Breathing is the very first functional movement we ever did as humans. Breathing is essential to our metabolic system, our brain function, and our motor control system. When trying to coach someone to move better for flexibility, weight loss, strength, pre-habilitation, or rehabilitation, proper breathing instruction is paramount to a successful outcome. When you are thinking of functional training and how your programs are going to flow, what is more functional than breathing! We all coach breathing with our clients, patients, athletes and if we are not, why not!
